🇦🇷 Ethereum takes over Buenos Aires
Devconnect 2025 is coming to Buenos Aires from November 17-22, marking a key moment for Ethereum’s Latin American community. This year’s Devconnect is especially significant as it marks the first under Ethereum’s new leadership. With a fresh vision for the future, the event will showcase how Ethereum continues to drive decentralization and innovation in Latam, with Argentina at the forefront of this movement.
The event kicks off on November 17 with an opening ceremony at a soon-to-be-announced coworking venue. Following this, Devconnect will span six days of events, workshops, and networking, giving attendees a chance to dive deep into Ethereum’s impact on finance, identity, governance, and beyond. A key highlight will be the “Ethereum World’s Fair,” a hands-on exhibition that will showcase how Ethereum is transforming industries and everyday life.
Additionally, Devconnect will feature Community Hubs and coworking spaces, allowing participants to collaborate, innovate, and discuss the future of Ethereum in real-time. The event is designed to be decentralized, which means the community will play a vital role in shaping the event’s direction, making this a truly collective experience.
🌐 Argentina’s growing Ethereum ecosystem
Argentina’s rapid rise as a key hub for Ethereum in Latin America is one of the driving factors behind its selection to host Devconnect 2025. The country’s growing adoption of decentralized technologies and its proactive approach to blockchain have established it as a regional leader. Argentina’s unique economic landscape, characterized by high inflation and a need for financial alternatives, has driven the adoption of digital assets like Ethereum, with both individuals and businesses seeking more stable and accessible financial solutions.
The local ecosystem is thriving, with a number of Argentina-founded projects leading the way:
Quark ID: Built on Ethereum and zkSync, Quark ID enables secure and scalable digital identity management, with Buenos Aires’ government using it for a digital identity system.
Decentraland: Decentraland is a virtual reality platform that allows users to create, explore, and monetize content within an Ethereum-powered world.
OpenZeppelin: Known for its open-source blockchain tools and security protocols, OpenZeppelin helps developers build secure decentralized applications through reusable code libraries and auditing services.
Lemon: Focused on financial inclusion, Lemon offers a platform for users to securely store and manage assets in stablecoins, providing a hedge against Argentina’s inflation.
POAP: By issuing Proof of Attendance Protocol (POAP) tokens, POAP rewards event participants with digital collectibles that verify attendance and create lasting engagement.
In addition, Argentina is home to grassroots movements like Seed Latam, Ciudad de Crecimiento, Ethereum Argentina and ETH Latam, which play a key role in driving engagement, fostering innovation, and expanding Ethereum adoption throughout the country.
With these foundations in place, Devconnect 2025 provides a unique opportunity to further strengthen Argentina’s and Latam’s position in the global Ethereum ecosystem.
⛓️ Ethereum’s new leadership
Devconnect 2025 will be the first Devconnect under Ethereum’s new leadership structure. Aya Miyaguchi, who has played a key role in Ethereum’s growth, is transitioning from Executive Director to President. In this new position, Aya will focus on Ethereum’s long-term strategy, overseeing global initiatives and continuing to drive the vision of a decentralized future.
Alongside Aya, Hsiao-Wei Wang and Tomasz Stańczak join as co-Executive Directors. With extensive experience in blockchain development and strategic leadership, they will manage the day-to-day operations of the Ethereum Foundation, driving the platform’s scaling and adoption across the globe.
As Ethereum moves forward under this new leadership, Devconnect 2025 offers the perfect opportunity for the global community to come together, shape the future of Ethereum, and build on its momentum toward wider adoption.
🫂 How to get involved
Devconnect 2025 provides a unique platform for those passionate about Ethereum to actively shape its future. Attendees can join the Forum to collaborate, exchange ideas, and propose events, making it a space for collective input and contribution.
Those interested in contributing even further can organize events or create Community Hubs, as the decentralized nature of Devconnect means the community plays a key role in guiding its direction. Stay tuned for official proposals and event calendars, which will be shared through Frontera to keep the community informed and offer more opportunities to get involved. Additionally, the Ethereum Foundation is hiring for various roles to help support Devconnect, find more details here.
Devconnect 2025 is a pivotal event for Ethereum’s growth in LATAM. It’s not just a conference—it’s an opportunity to accelerate adoption, foster innovation, and strengthen Ethereum’s future across the region and beyond.
